Joshua’s educational journey began at Russell Nursery School in Ms. Austin’s class in Tuskegee, Alabama, where his early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for education. This passion deepened as he advanced through his studies, leading him to a career focused on creating equitable learning environments for Black and brown students.
Joshua has worked as an educator in Florida, Mississippi, and the DMV, where he honed his skills and deepened his commitment to educational equity. These experiences inspired him to pursue advanced studies in educational policy and leadership.
Joshua is a Doctoral Student and Graduate Assistant in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program at Howard University’s School of Education. He was recently selected as the inaugural Community Schools Graduate Fellow with the NEA Foundation, where he works on projects that elevate educators’ voices and leadership in community schools.
Joshua holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Florida State University. He has presented research at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and contributed to publications on educational equity and teacher preparation.
Beyond his work and studies, Joshua loves being a Dad and spending time with his family. He also enjoys reading good sci-fi books and working outside.
