Last fall, Wisconsin music educator Chis Gleason was announced as one of five 2022 Horace Mann Awards for Teaching Excellence recipients. During his career, he has demonstrated his commitment to engaging his students and supporting other educators in the learning process.
This week, Gleason penned a thoughtful reflection for the National Association of Music Educators website about his professional journey over the past quarter century.
“I created a climate of possibility, allowing students to act upon their curiosity and explore their imagination while empowering them to create something with meaning that transcended their own lives,” he said about one of his unorthodox music lessons.
