NEA Foundation Appoints Three New Members to Board of Directors
The NEA Foundation is thrilled to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors, each bringing their unique and invaluable perspectives to the Foundation’s board.
The NEA Foundation Celebrates Outstanding Educators with the 2025 Awards for Teaching Excellence!
The NEA Foundation announced last month that 48 public school educators will be honored with the esteemed 2025 Travelers Awards for Teaching Excellence. The awardees, who come from every region of the country and serve urban, rural, and suburban communities, have demonstrated excellence in the classroom, leadership in the teaching profession, engagement with families and communities, and dedication to equity and diversity.
Additionally, five of the educator awardees have been recognized with the Horace Mann Awards for Teaching Excellence, one of the highest honors in public education. As part of the awards, each of the five educators will be featured in a short documentary film about their teaching practices and impact.
We can’t wait to celebrate these awardees and many others at the 2025 Salute to Excellence in Education Gala on February 14, 2025 in Washington, D.C.!

Often referred to as “the Academy Awards of Education,” the Salute to Excellence in Education brings together hundreds of educators and champions of public education from across the country to celebrate, inspire, and honor outstanding leaders making a difference for students, schools, and communities.
2025 Global Learning Fellowship Kicks Off with Cohort from Across the Country and Beyond
Last month, The NEA Foundation announced the selection of its 2025 cohort of Global Learning Fellows. The new cohort includes 48 educators from 35 states and Japan.
The Global Learning Fellowship (GLF) is The NEA Foundation’s unique professional development program for educators, centered on deepening educators’ competency to empower students to excel and flourish as they navigate an interconnected world.
Southern Regional Alliance for Community Schools Convenes in Little Rock, AR
On September 26, the Southern Regional Alliance for Community Schools (SRACS) held a special convening in Little Rock, Arkansas. During that convening, the SRACS members visited three community schools supported by The NEA Foundation in the Little Rock School District. These school visits showcased the growing maturation of these community school sites, highlighting them as exemplars of what community schools in the Deep South can achieve.
The group that toured the Little Rock community schools included Mayor of Little Rock Frank Scott Jr. and Superintendent of the Little Rock School District Dr. Jermall Wright.
