In Florida, NEA Foundation grantee Dr. David Lazerson and his partner, Cindy Frost, are using music to improve the communication skills of K-5 students with profound special needs. See how the team used software to assist students with autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy in understanding the nuances of simple instruments, and eventually, learning and playing songs. In a grand finale, students interacted with members of their community through song and dance performances at senior centers, other schools, and a local children’s hospital.
