As a leadership development opportunity for teachers who are affiliated with the Chippewa River Writing Project (CRWP), a site of the National Writing Project (NWP) at Central Michigan University (CMU), this professional writing retreat will provide twelve educators — including applicants Becky Schwartz and CRWP’s director, Troy Hicks — with the opportunity to reflect on the work they have accomplished in the past two years. They will produce professional writing in the form of conference presentation proposals and journal submissions that describe their adaptations and resilience through pandemic pedagogy. Participants will be invited to a five- day working retreat at CMU’s Biological Station on Beaver Island of Lake Michigan. By the end of the retreat, educators will have a plan for professional development to be offered through CRWP in the 2022-23 academic year.
