This schoolwide project involves every student and every classroom. Classroom teachers choose a standard-aligned unit of study for their grade level, a set of books for each child to serve as a hub for new learning, and the culminating event is a field trip where new knowledge is applied. Families will gain access to a learning map so that they can learn about their child’s unit of study and will be encouraged to engage in the unit plans throughout the school year. At a whole school celebration, classrooms will share what they learned in the course of the study and the culminating field trip. Students will also receive books related to their projects and field study units to be re-read during the summer and be shared with family members and siblings.
