Shasta Rosales and three of her fellow paraeducator colleagues will design and implement a mentoring and coaching program for paraeducators in their school. This project will be grounded in a book study focused on books by Elena Aguilar, an author and coach with expertise on emotional resilience in educators, equity and coaching. Their goals for this book study align with the NEA Professional Growth Continuum Standards for professionalism, ethics, communication and cultural competence. Also as part of this project, Shasta will attend the Coaching for Change Conference in Atlanta, GA. The district is supporting this project by providing two hours per month for these educators to collaborate and by agreeing to support the mentoring and coaching program built during the project. The hope is to also spread it to other schools in the district.
