The goal of this project is to enhance student learning by incorporating engineering and design with science and math into the technology program at East Middle School. By incorporating training on and use of Glowforge, a 3-D laser printer, into the program, students will be able to use technology to bring to life their ideas with a physical representation of their models.
Through this program, over 250 middle school students will become better prepared for a wide range of career opportunities and passions. They will, for example, use the Glowforgeto design, build, and test the strength of the bridges as well as to and create CO2 racecars and hydraulic robot arms. The technology provided through this project will provide students with opportunities to test, evaluate, and redesign projects as they work through the design process in order to come up with the best solutions possible.
