Lori Howell

Lori Howell will attend the Earthwatch research expedition, “Conserving Wild Bees and Other Pollinators of Costa Rica.” Earthwatch is an international environmental nonprofit organization that connects people with scientists worldwide to conduct environmental research. This expedition will result in improved knowledge and taxonomy of Costa Rica’s bee species as well as greater understanding of how climate change and habitat loss impact native bee species, butterflies, and other neo-tropical pollinators. Lori will replicate the activities of the expedition with students during the school year and use her experience as a guide to teach lessons about climate change and the importance of protecting pollinators as a part of her science curriculum.
