Lindsay Groce

Lindsay Groce will use these grant funds to support a sabbatical she has been granted for Spring 2023, during which she intends to travel to London and Paris to develop a non-lab science elective course on great scientific discoveries and the history of science. While overseas she will visit libraries where many of the primary sources of early scientific studies are housed, attend lectures by the Royal Society of London, tour labs of famous scientists, and visit important historical sites that shaped the development of the various, overlapping scientific disciplines. She will also incorporate what she learns into her chemistry classes, noting that “the history and detail of scientific discoveries makes for good storytelling, which helps to engage students in learning the concepts.”
