As part of a larger, community-wide history initiative, this project aims to educate K-12 students about Black history in the United States in an interactive and impactful way. The project will bring Dr. Khalid el-Hakim, a former social studies teacher and founder and CEO of the Black History 101 Mobile Museum, to Westerville to present and engage students with a
specially curated selection from his award-winning collection of over 10,000 artifacts of Black memorabilia. This presentation will provide students with an intimate briefing on Black history in America and set the groundwork for units of study across multiple middle schools.
