Kimberly Benford will attend the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences 2023 Annual Conference in Baltimore, MD. As an educator in a small district, participation in national conferences and social media platforms has become increasingly important to stay up-to-date in her field. Through this conference, she will learn more about how to strengthen her teaching practice, articulate the importance of this career pathway to building and district administrators, and demonstrate the transferable skills gained from these courses even though they don’t articulate well on modern career assessments. As the chair of her school’s Family and Consumer Science department, she will share what she learns with others in her district and use this information to secure program support for the future allotment of CTE educators in this subject area.
