Karlie Myette and fellow educator Amy Jorgenson plan to attend the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Annual Meeting and Exposition, to broaden their knowledge around purposeful mathematics learning, creating equitable and anti-racist structures within schools, developing deeper knowledge of number systems, implementing equitable strategies within a math curriculum, promoting assessment driven decisions, re-imaging technological instruments and providing social-emotional learning within mathematics. They plan to use the resources and knowledge they gain from the conference to restructure their teaching, classroom management and overall interactions with students as well as to share their learning through individual meetings, group presentations and coaching opportunities with peers and administrators.
