Through this project students will participate in immersive experiences through Virtual Reality (VR) that will enhance their understanding of and empathy for significant historical events to be discussed in their English 9 Class. Specifically, students will be studying the Holocaust and the Civil Rights Movement. Given the rise in racism and anti-Semitism, as well as the fact that many of these students have limited exposure to different cultures and diverse experiences, virtual reality will allow them to visit Anne Franke’s Annex, Auschwitz and the National Civil Rights Museum to inform research projects and make connections between the texts, history and their own experience in the VR world.
