The purpose of the proposed project is to develop an innovative faculty-training program that leverages the strengths of the University of South Carolina Aiken at Sumter (USCA) and the Sumter School District (SSD). This training will strengthen preservice teacher preparation at USCA to ensure that teacher candidates make seamless transitions to full-time teaching. USCA, a regionally accredited institution of higher education, and one SSD school, Millwood Elementary School, have developed a professional development school partnership with an explicit goal of preparing cooperating teachers to become clinical faculty. This project will prepare faculty to work with teacher candidates. Program team members will develop modules to facilitate training for faculty members working with the USCA program specifically.
