Project Lit: Literacy, Learning, and Looking for Justice is a literacy-based social justice initiative for middle school students. Project Lit is a national literacy organization, and Seneca Middle School was accepted as a chapter. The goals of this project are to: expose students to various authors, novels, and genres; provide students with the tools to question characters’ motives
and consider how settings and circumstances affect character motivation; and to help students think about how the themes expressed in the novels relate to their lives, schools, and communities. Students will read four novels every nine weeks, engage in book groups, and share in leading discussions throughout the project.
