This project will support development of the Benton Central Conservation Club (BCCC) with the goal of driving student interest in the Natural Sciences as a career field through extra-curricular experiences in natural science and conservation. The BCC will engage students in hands-on science activities using technology and equipment that will prepare them for natural science college majors and careers. Additionally, students will participate in science research and interact with professional scientists from universities such as Purdue and Illinois State. Club activities will be linked to conservation through classroom learning in Biology, Biotechnology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, and Agricultural Science. This project will provide experiences and skill development to excite and inspire students, particularly students from groups underrepresented in the natural sciences.
