Through this project, Smithville Middle School will create a student-led refreshment store operated by students with intellectual disabilities. This program will guide students with the skills for life while giving them the opportunity to address social and functional living goals with peers. The program supports building relationships, self-advocacy, leadership and communication skills. The project will be beneficial to the culture and morale of the building. It also aligns to the district’s goals around inclusion, leadership, and social and emotional growth.
