Amy Sherman

Amy Sherman will participate in a professional learning program with Global Education Allies (GEA) to learn about the Finnish education system, which is among the strongest in the world. During the program, she will visit a variety of schools in Finland and the University of Helsinki, to learn about the approach to education there. Additionally, she will engage with Finnish educators through informal conversations, panel discussions, and question and answer sessions to exchange ideas about education.. While in Finland, her goal is to learn about how Finnish educators teach English as a foreign language and how they approach teaching academic content to immigrant students who are still developing proficiency in the Finnish language. Exploring these topics will parallel her work and will enhance her ability to apply knowledge of the field to provide support for English learners in her school district.
